We all finally left the room around 2pm after some much needed rest. There was nothing on the agenda since staying in Batumi was an audible so we decided to head to the beach and wander around. If you remember the last post you will know that a massive bumble bee picked up on of my flip flops with all of his legs and threw it out the car window, all the while laughing in Turkish. I have no desire to wear tennis shoes every day (and I didn’t bring that many socks) so I figured walking along the beach I’d be bound to run into some silly store. Wrong. Well we did walk into one, but none of the shoes were even close to my Freedom loving sized 13 American feet. They might have all been girls shoes for all I know.
The other 2 were getting hangry so we wandered a few blocks into the city to some restaurant Goodman had picked out. Unfortunately they were somehow all filled up at 3pm on a weekday, so we had to walk across the street to another place. It was on a rooftop though so that was cool. Food was meh to ok. I ordered a Budweiser and was quite surprised when a beer that is not a Budweiser arrived at the table. Original Budweiser it was labeled. Didn’t taste bad even though it was in a green bottle.
We walked back to the beach, there was a big cafe bar thing out on the water that looked cool. So we hung out there for a bit. From there we went to an adjacent outdoor place. There was a cover band that was practicing playing some American songs, some bad and some good. We smoked a hookah and sat around talking about how much we wanted to kill each other already from all the time on the road. it was fun.
Next up casino. They have casinos in Georgia, albeit small ones. You have to get pictures taken and get a players card each time you walk into one. I didn’t stay at the first one long, and instead walked to another nearby to play blackjack by myself. There are some really weird rules, like being able to triple down. Fun night. I made it back to the room first around 2 am, Goodman arrived shortly after. We were both fairly inebriated so we decided to order room service and watch Game of Thrones. I would say it was one of the worst hamburgers I’ve ever had, but the food was necessary since we hadn’t eaten since a late lunch the day before. Since then we’ve decided to rematch Game of Thrones because truth be told don’t remember much of it at all.
